The Imagery and the Poetry
The fog-shrouded imagery on our labels and website is reflective of both the city where we live (San Francisco) and of the wine that we love (Pinot Noir). The cooling effects of the fog in the regions from which we source the grapes for our wine is integral to the magical climate in many Pinot Noir vineyards. And, one can't think about fog without being reminded of our own “cool grey city of love”: San Francisco. The excerpt of the poem, The Ballad of the Grapes, you see on the home page is from George Sterling. Sterling, a celebrated Northern California poet from the early 20th century, also penned The Cool, Grey City of Love, a set of verse that is close to our heart and our home.
